How can Las Vegas qualify for the postseason?
Since joining the National Hockey League in 2017-18, the Vegas Golden Knights have qualified for the playoffs in four consecutive seasons. However, this run is in jeopardy. After surrendering a two-goal lead in the waning minutes of regulation and falling short in a 5-4 shootout defeat to San Jose on Sunday night, the Golden Knights’ postseason fate is no longer in their hands.
To make the playoffs, they will need help from the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, or their opponent tomorrow night, the Dallas Stars. Tomorrow’s game will be crucial in determining the destiny of Sin City’s fifth year. Vegas has two options: win and live to fight another day, or lose and likely end a turbulent 2021-22 season with mediocrity.
