In the last week of the Big Ten regular season, four teams have a mathematical opportunity to win at least a share of the Big Ten championship. Sunday’s victory against Michigan has made the Orange and Blue one of them, much to the delight of Illini supporters. The current top four, including this week’s games, are as follows:
- Wisconsin 14 vs 4 (Tuesday vs. Purdue, Saturday vs. Nebraska)
- Purdue (13-5) is at Wisconsin on Tuesday and Indiana on Saturday.
- Illinois 13-5 (Thursday vs. Penn State, Sunday vs. Iowa) (Thursday vs. Penn State, Sunday vs. Iowa)
- Ohio State 11-6 (Tuesday vs. Nebraska, Thursday vs. Michigan State, Sunday vs. Michigan)
Illinois must win their remaining two games in order to win the Big Ten outright. In addition, Purdue must defeat Wisconsin on Tuesday and lose to Indiana, while Wisconsin must drop its next two contests. For Illinois to win a share of the Big Ten regular-season championship, they must win their remaining games and Purdue must defeat Wisconsin.
The Illini would need to win one of their remaining games, Purdue would need to defeat Wisconsin, and both teams would need to lose their regular season finale if they do not win out. With a victory over Purdue on Tuesday, Wisconsin can clinch the Big Ten title. Wisconsin may win the league outright if Purdue or Illinois lose their next two contests.

Wisconsin will win at least a share of the Big Ten championship if Illinois or Purdue lose one of their last two games. Sunday’s victory over Nebraska would also secure at least a share for Wisconsin. Purdue will win the Big Ten if they win out, Wisconsin loses out, and Illinois loses one of their last two games.

In the event of a tie in seeding for the Big Ten Tournament, the league employs a number of complex procedures. However, the decisive factor is the head-to-head record. If many teams are tied, the winner is determined by their combined winning percentage versus all other tied teams.

- Ohio State and Wisconsin split their season series. In the event of a split season, the head-to-head record against the next team serves as the tiebreaker. If the next team is determined to be Illinois, Ohio State has the tie-breaker. If the next team is determined to be Purdue, Wisconsin holds the tiebreaker.
