- LAS VEGAS – After a season marked by an extraordinary amount of instability and suffering, the Raiders are going to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and for only the second time since Super Bowl XXXVII following the 2002 season.
The Raiders won a wild-card berth and the No.5 seed in the AFC with a nail-biting 35-32 overtime victory over the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night at a boisterous Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders (10-7) will now travel to Cincinnati to face the AFC North champion Bengals (10-7) at 4:30 p.m.

They became the first team in the prior 30 seasons to convert six fourth downs in a game.
The Raiders had a turbulent regular season, with coach Jon Gruden’s dismissal, wide receiver Henry Ruggs’ DUI and tragic vehicle collision, cornerback Damon Arnette’s release after making death threats in a viral video, and rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs’ DUI arrest just last week.

Jacobs referred to himself as the Raiders’ “closer” and pleaded with offensive coordinator Greg Olson to give him the ball after the Chargers tied the game in overtime with a field goal. “I said, ‘It’s time,'” said Jacobs, who ran for 23 of his career-high 132 yards in overtime despite being labeled as doubtful with a rib ailment on the injury report.

The Houston Texans’ (1-6-1) loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday decreased their postseason prospects from 2 percent to 1 percent. The Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) had a bye week last week, but their playoff odds increased to 91 percent from 88 percent. The Los Angeles Chargers (4-3) got a bye week last week, but their playoff prospects dropped from 58 percent to 57 percent.
On Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders (2-5) fell to the New Orleans Saints, lowering their playoff odds from 21 percent to 14 percent. Sunday’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars increased the Denver Broncos’ playoff odds from 7 percent to 12 percent. Even though the Philadelphia Eagles (8-0) defeated the Houston Texans (8-1) on Thursday, their prospects of making the playoffs remained at 99 percent.
