MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University baseball team will enter the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship as the No.6 seed. The Mountaineers’ playoff schedule begins on Wednesday, May 25 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas against No.3-seeded Oklahoma.
The game will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET. The winner advances to face the winner of No.2 Texas Tech vs. No.7 Kansas State on Thursday, May 26 at 8:30 p.m., while the losers play an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. on the same day. West Virginia concluded the regular season with 33 wins and 20 losses, including 14 wins and 10 losses within the Big 12 Conference, the most in a single season in program history.
The Mountaineers have won multiple games in six of the previous eight Big 12 Championships, including five in a row. In addition, the team has reached the semifinals four times since 2016, including two appearances in the title game (2016, 2019). In 2022, the Big 12 Championship will be held for the first time in the Texas Rangers’ ballpark.
