Tall fescue is an attractive grass that withstands heavy use well (to a point, of course). It is also more resistant to drought than the other grasses mentioned. 
Which grass is the most difficult to maintain?
This creeping grass is recognized for its low water, mowing, and fertilization requirements. Suppose you want to use “tough” grass to accommodate an active family that enjoys sports. Considering only this characteristic, the “toughest” grasses are sports-turf grasses such as common Bermuda, hybrid Bermuda, and zoysia.
These grasses have a trailing growth pattern and are more tolerant of heavy foot traffic than cool-season grasses (like fescues). In addition, they tend to fill in bare spots caused by heavy foot traffic or dog urine faster and have a higher salt tolerance (urine). Excellent decision, right? Not so quickly! In the shade, these grasses grow very poorly.
No matter how naturally resilient these grasses are, they are unsuitable for shaded areas. This is true whether the shade is caused by trees, the angle of the sun as the seasons change, or compass direction (north and east facing locations are cooler and more shaded than areas facing west or south ).

Often combined with ryegrass and fine fescue, bluegrass grows well from both seed and sod and can withstand cooler temperatures; however, it dislikes shade.

LOW MAINTENANCE ZOYSIA’S – Due to their slow growth and deep roots, Zoysia Varieties require the least amount of maintenance of all grasses available. Zoysia grasses save on long-term mowing, pesticides, dethatching, and fertilizers when left to their own devices. Zoysia grasses form a dense, cushiony turf that outcompetes weeds and is naturally resistant to diseases and insects.
