Echinacea is also simple to grow from seed, but requires a period of cold, moist stratification in order to germinate. Sow seeds densely in the fall (after hard frosts in the north and before winter rains elsewhere) with a light covering to deter birds from eating them. The germination of seeds will occur in the spring.
